If you're watching our news lately, you might be aware of an upcoming GNU/Linux distribution that tries to rise above existing projects due to the fact that it offers a gorgeous, well-implemented Material Design interface.

Yes, we're talking about Papyros, which right now is in pre-Alpha stages of development and needs your support, as its developers put up a crowdfunding campaign this past weekend.

They are trying to collect funds from the community to dedicate themselves to the development of the Papyros Linux operating system and implement awesome new features like that modern design inspired by Google's Material Design guidelines.

The developers have also announced that Papyros will be a rolling-release operating system that will offer rollbacks and atomic upgrades, it will integrate support for Web Apps, such as Evernote, Inbox, Gmail, etc., and will provide one of the easiest-to-use desktop environments.

Additionally, the upcoming GNU/Linux distribution, which might see an Alpha release sometime this summer, will integrate a cross-platform application development framework based on QtQuick, as well as unique Control Center and file manager apps.

"Our vision for Papyros is building a Linux operating system that is fun and easy to use for the average user. We're doing this by building an operating system that gets out of the user's way, integrates with cloud services and web technologies, and converges across devices and form factors," says Michael Spencer, Papyros project leader.

Here's how you can contribute to Papyros

If you want to see the Papyros Linux operating system become reality, we recommend visiting the project's crowdfunding campaign on Bountysource Salt and contribute with as much as you can afford.

If you don't have money to spend on the upcoming open-source project but you're a skilled developer and have some spare time on your hands, you can always check out the list of open bounties for Papyros and earn some money while adding new features to the distribution.
