It’s not a secret anymore that Microsoft wants to bring more high-quality apps in the Windows Store and it turns out that all these efforts are finally paying off.

At this point, there are nearly 135,000 apps in the store and the number is quickly increasing, as more and more developers decide to port their tools to the new Windows 8.1.

One of the latest apps that reached the store is Paper Snow, an application that’s completely optimized for the touch to let you create snowflakes on both desktops and tablets running Windows 8.1.

The application only boasts the essential tools for designing snowflakes, including options to draw straight lines, four different types of folds, support for adding backgrounds, and Windows 8.1 integration to quickly share your creations.

The app might seem a little bit complicated at the first sight, but the developing team has implemented several guides and tutorials to aid users as they discover the app.

Here’s what the official description published in the store reads:

“To create marking on paper for cutting, you can draw straight and curvy lines with touch/mouse or use the built-in shapes and easily create beautiful snowflakes. After the Paper Snow is ready, you can replace the default wood background with any picture.”

Microsoft clearly needs more apps like this one to reach the store, as the lack of Modern tools has been considered one of the main drawbacks of the modern OS.

Windows 8.1 has fixed things a little bit, as more high-quality apps landed in the store after the debut of the new OS, but there’s still room for improvements, that’s for sure. Spam apps remain an important issue right now, and Microsoft needs to urgently tackle it, as many fake entries are trying to steal people’s money by capitalizing on the success of some desktop programs.
