More and more handset vendors around the world are rumored to plan launching smartphones with impressively large displays, and Pantech is one of them.

Rumor has it that the company is gearing up for the launch of a 5.9-inch smartphone next year, capable of delivering a full HD (1920 x 1080 pixel) resolution.

Furthermore, the device is said to pack a 2GHz quad-core processor inside, support for 4G LTE connectivity, 3G capabilities, and the like.

Provided that the rumor pans out, the device would help Pantech better position itself on a market segment where Samsung’s Galaxy Note II currently holds the crown.

The 5.9-inch Pantech handset is expected to land in South Korea at first and to be released in other countries only after proving itself successful. Stay tuned for more on this.
