Pantech is gearing up for the release of a new device to pack support for 4G LTE networks, the already spotted Pantech Vega LTE, and it seems that the device has just received the necessary approvals from the WiFi Alliance.

First of all, we should note that the new mobile phone was spotted only a few weeks ago into the wild along with some other LTE-capable devices set to arrive on shelves in South Korean in the near future.

The Pantech Vega LTE (IM-A800S) emerged at that time in a photo that showed it next to LTE smartphones from Samsung, HTC and LG.

While no official announcement on the phone's arrival on shelves emerged for the time being, the device has just passed through the WiFi Alliance certification process, which means that it should not be too long before it is formally unveiled.

The listing unveiled that it would pack IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n connectivity capabilities when made available for purchase, both in the 2.4GHz and the 5.0GHz bands.

It is also said to pack global connectivity capabilities, with both CDMA and GSM radios packed inside, as well as Bluetooth 3.0 capabilities.

Moreover, rumor has it that the handset will include LTE connectivity capabilities, and that it will become available for purchase in South Korean on the airwaves of SK Telecom in the near future.

Some of the previous reports on this device suggested that it will arrive on shelves with a 1.5GHz dual-core application processor complemented by 1GB of RAM.

The yet-unofficial Pantech Vega LTE is also expected to sport a large 4.5-inch touchscreen display, one that might feature a 1280 x 720 pixels HD resolution.

The mobile phone should run under Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system when made available for purchase. Chances are that it might become official in a matter of weeks, so keep an eye on this space for additional info on the matter.
