The stylish IM-R200

Korean mobile phone manufacturer Pantech has come up with quite a few innovative and highly attractive products. In fact, few of the products released by the company didn't have some special features or stand apart from other handsets for one reason or another.

While some of the handsets have form factors and features that aren't all that useful or practical, innovation is always appreciated and Pantech is strictly about innovation. Recently the company has introduced a new mobile phone that at first sight seems to bring nothing different than any other handset.

When closed, the IM-R200 looks like every other sliding handset you'd seen in Asian mobile phone shops, sporting a simple clean cut design with rounded edges that customers from the area are very accustomed to.

What's special about it is that hidden beneath the main screen is not the usual numeric keypad one would expect but a second, smaller LCD screen that is meant to replace the keypad as well as serve other functions. Dual-display phones have been introduced before, but none of them came with a slider form factor.

Other features include a 2 megapixel camera, color screen with a QVGA resolution, 116MB internal memory that can be expanded through a MicroSD card slot as well as media player with support for several audio and most likely video file formats and all the regular mobile phone features.

As usual, the phone carries Sky branding and is expected to be released in Korea, which means that there are almost no chances at all of getting to see it anywhere else in the world. No information on its availability or price has been provided so far.
