While most Korean-manufactured mobile phones will stay in Korea only, with people from other parts of the world never being able to own one, there is one manufacturer whose products are available in the US.
In fact, most mobile operators in the US have at least one Pantech mobile phone in their lineup. Also, the Korean manufacturer will be present at CTIA 2007 with several of its devices on display. The handset list includes the C3b, C510, C600, C170 and C150. Aside from the names that don't really tell you much about the handsets that bear them, they're all pretty
nice devices.
Pantech C3b, the upgrade to Pantech's very succesful tiny phone, currently holding the title of 'world's smallest flip phone', comes with Bluetooth and interchangeable face-plates, as well as a VGA camera with flash, email capabilities and a variety of messaging possibilities including SMS, MMS and IM.
Other phones that will be presented include two 3G handsets, the
C600 and C710, both coming with Flash UI's, Bluetooth with A2DP profile and media player. Also, the C710 is equipped with onboard stereo speakers and Push-to -talk.
Coming in a clamshell form factor, the C510 is slightly larger than the C3b and is rather flashy due to its bright green case. It features a 1.3 megapixel camera with video recording capabilities, support for MP3, AAC, WMA and MPEG4 files, Bluetooth with A2DP and a MicroSD card slot for memory expansion enabling the user to store a larger number of tracks.
The slimmest of the bunch is the
C150, measuring 11.5 mm. The handset is available in black or white, includes Bluetooth with A2DP, 12MB of internal memory and MP3 playback and download capabilities (although there's no info on whether memory can be expanded via MicroSD, but its presence would be logical if it's meant to be a music phone). That being said, Pantech has quite a nice lineup of phones to be presented at CTIA, and people will most likely enjoy visiting their booth.
