Although AT&T announced three days ago it will carry the Pantech Pocket starting November 20, the carrier did not disclosed any details regarding the smartphone's price.

Today, the carrier went forward with an official announcement, confirming once more that the Pantech Pocket will be available for purchase on November 20, but added that the phone costs only $49.99 (37 EUR) with a new two-year agreement.

Pantech Pocket is the second Android smartphone launched by the Korean handset maker via AT&T carrier. The smartphone stands out from the crowd given its unusual form factor and textured back cover.

According to Pantech, the smartphone will be promoted during the three winter stops on the 2011-2012 Dew Tour, which is sponsored by Pantech.

Pocket immediately stands out from the crowd of black glass handsets currently on shelves, while exceeding our customers’ entertainment and social media expectations,” said Wyatt Whaley, Vice President of Product Planning for Pantech Wireless.

Pantech Pocket comes with a 4.0-inch WSVGA capacitive touchscreen (600 x 800 pixels resolution) that boasts a 4:3 aspect ratio, which is said to offer 20% more viewing area in comparison with other similar displays.

The phone is powered by Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system, complemented by a feature-rich personalized user interface that makes the phone ideal for multimedia, e-reading, gaming and entertainment.

Pantech has earned a great reputation for its dedication to providing new and fresh mobile experiences – and with a dramatically wider screen, 4G speeds and a healthy dose of customization, Pocket expands on that commitment,” concluded Whaley.

The Pocket is pre-loaded with Kindle by Amazon and Google Books to meet users' growing desire to read books on their mobile phones.

In addition, the 4G-enabled smartphone sports a 5-megapixel camera on the back with autofocus and LED flash, as well HD (720p) video recording capabilities.
