A new mobile phone powered by Google's Android operating system was spotted on the Federal Communications Commission's website with support for the network of wireless carrier AT&T, namely the Pantech P8000.

While there are no official details available on the possible arrival of the device at this wireless carrier, the connectivity options it includes suggest that it would indeed arrive on this operator's network.

The new Pantech P8000 was spotted with GSM/EDGE 850/1900 and WCDMA 850/1900 connectivity options on board, pointing straight at AT&T's airwaves, a recent article on Phone Scoop states.

In all fairness, this does not come as a surprise at all, since the collaboration between the South Korean mobile phone maker and the United States-based wireless carrier goes way back.

In addition to the aforementioned connectivity options, the upcoming mobile phone should also include support for Bluetooth and Wi-Fi radios.

Moreover, the handset should come with a candybar form factor, while sporting a photo snapper on the back.

One of the interesting features of this device would be the fact that it might arrive on shelves with the Android operating system on board.

The phone received all the necessary approvals from the FCC and from the Bluetooth Special Interest Group, the latter describing it as a “Pantech Android Smart Phone.”

For the time being, confirmation on this still hasn't arrived, but it's nice to see that Pantech is finally making a move away from the low-end dumbphones it usually delivers to AT&T.

However, we might expect for this handset to come with a low price tag as well, which might make it pretty appealing, especially for those who are familiar with Pantech's devices.

The new mobile phone is currently known only as the Pantech P8000, though Engadget suggests that it might sport the codename of Moon.

It still remains to be seen what price tag the phone would sport when released on the market, and when exactly it launch would take place, so keep an eye on this space for additional info on the matter.
