South Korean mobile phone maker Pantech has made official a new smartphone in the popular Vega series of devices, namely the Pantech Vega Secret Up.

The new handset arrives on shelves with a 5.6-inch touchscreen display that can deliver a full HD resolution, and with capabilities similar to those of Pantech’s Secret Note smartphone that landed on shelves only recently, as Engadget notes.

The device sports the same fingerprint sensor as the Secret Note, along with support for LTE-Advanced networks, but it does not have a stylus.

Furthermore, it appears that the new mobile phone will be cheaper than its predecessor, given the fact that it will land on shelves with diminished hardware specifications.

Pantech made the new mobile phone official with a 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 MSM8974 processor inside, as well as with 2GB of RAM. Furthermore, the new device comes with 16GB of internal memory, as well as with a 3150 mAh battery.

For those out of the loop, we should mention that Secret Note was launched with the same CPU and battery, but with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory.

The smartphone sports a 13-megapixel camera on the back, with full HD video recording, as well as a 2.1MP front camera for making video calls.

The new Pantech Vega Secret Up also hits shelves with WCDMA/GSM bands inside, and also with the usual set of other connectivity options included.

The smartphone will be launched in South Korea in three flavors, featuring model numbers IM-A900S, IM-A900L, and IM-A900K, each destined for one of the three wireless carriers in the country, namely KT, LG U +, and SK Telecom.

The new handset can already be seen listed on Pantech’s website, which will bring it to the market in two color versions, namely Black and White. Pantech Vega Secret Up runs under the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system.
