On a two year contract agreement

Today, mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless and handset vendor Pantech announced the launch of a new feature phone by Personal Communications Devices, LLC, namely the Pantech Jest. The new slider comes with a QWERTY keyboard, while packing enhanced connectivity options, not to mention that it offers users the possibility to easily manage ringtones, wallpapers and games from personal networks.

“The JEST sets new standards for wireless social communication with Mobile IM, Chat and Social Networking, along with a 2.0 megapixel camera – all in a neat slider form factor. The Jest is a feature phone that’s perfect for the heavy texter or for those who simply want to keep in touch. This device makes it a breeze to blog, browse webs, or send messages with a touch of the My Messaging Key. The Self Icon feature allows you to create your own Icons and Banners and display an electric sign on the phone display,” Big Red notes on its website.

The specifications list of the new handset includes a 2.6-inch 262K color TFT display, complemented by the sliding QWERTY keypad, an optical directional key with swipe motion technology, and a 2.0-megapixel photo snapper that sports video recording capabilities. Other features of the new device include text, picture, video and voice messaging capabilities, complemented by mobile IM and Chat for quick text conversations, not to mention Facebook, MySpace and Twitter connectivity, or a media center for fast download of content.

Other features of the new device include - VZ Navigator for detailed maps in real time with audible turn-by-turn directions to millions of points of interest in the United States - V CAST Music with Rhapsody (subscription and PC downloads) digital music service. Download soundtracks and albums or sync playlists with a PC - Mobile Web browsing capabilities for news, sports, weather and e-mail, providing access to up-to-date information when users subscribe to Internet service The new Pantech Jest has been put on sale at Verizon Wireless for free upon the signing of a two-year contract agreement with the carrier. Starting on July 5, the new handset should arrive in Verizon Wireless Communications Stores with a price tag of $69.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate and a service agreement attached to it.
