The digital photography inevitably led to the development of the digital frames. Nowadays, fewer digital photos are printed, while the digital photo frames typically display the pictures directly from a camera's memory card. However, a few models also provide internal memory storage, like Pandigital, for example.
Recently, the company
announced the launching of a new line of photo frames that comes in various storage capacities, from 128MB to 256MB. The frame enables the user to get an automatic timer for the frame to be turned on/off during use. It comes with an integrated calendar and alarm clock functions, USB drive support and a 6-in-1 card reader.
The digital device allows the user to share memories with the loved ones, as it has an integrated pair of speakers, although if the owner wants to listen to the built-in MP3 player in private, he/she can use the headphone jack.
The multimedia frame can also be customized according to the user's taste by throwing in the Digital Photo Frame Bluetooth connector/adapter for 39 bucks to view the content from other compatible Bluetooth devices without having to transfer the files through the PC. Each photo frame comes in two decorative skins.
According to PcMag, Dean Finnegan, president of Pandigital, "our wireless and battery accessories let our customers choose the extra capabilities they want without having it imposed on them. Plus, the new simple-to-use features, such as the clock and calendar, allow customers to enjoy their frames even more."
The Digital Photo Frame WiFi Wireless Connector/adapter costs 50 bucks and the manufacturers offer a battery pack, capable of providing up to three hours of viewing time on a single charge. It might not seem very impressive, but it does come in handy if you want to show photos to your friends or even if you decide to take the frame on vacation with you.
As size matters when it comes to family photos, the digital frames sport dimensions from 6" to 15", with prices starting from $120 to spicy 300 bucks a pop!
