Pieces of malware known as Trojan Horses are a major player in the current cyber threat landscape – actually they represent the most common type of malware – and that’s why experts from Panda Security have decided to issue an infographic to educate users.

Trojans are pieces of malicious software designed to steal information, spy on users, or take control of their computers.

Currently, there are tens of millions of variants and recent reports show that almost 24% of computers worldwide are infected with one.

Experts highlight the fact that Trojans should not be mistaken for viruses since viruses act differently than Trojans and they’re not designed to steal information.

Interestingly, most Trojans have been created in Germany, followed by Russia, China, France and Brazil.

Currently, the “trending Trojans” are police ransomware, the malicious elements that lock computer screens and demand the payment of a fine in the name of a law enforcement agency.
