The panda somehow figured out that faking pregnancy would lead to pampering

For those unaware, breeding panda bears in captivity is not a very easy thing to do. This is because males hardly ever show any interest in mating, and females are only fertile for about 24 to 36 hours.

Hence, the panda bears that do become pregnant are more often than not pampered by their caretakers. As it turns out, a female living at China's Chengdu Giant Panda Breeding Research Center figured out a way to use this to its advantage.

As reported by Sky News, experts working with this wildlife center have reasons to believe that this panda faked being pregnant in order to receive better food and live a life of luxury in a single room complete with air conditioning.

Thus, word has it that, despite not being pregnant, the female changed its behavior, meaning that it started moving less and faked not having an appetite. Apparently, these are all symptoms associated with panda pregnancies.

The female turned out to be such a good actress that caretakers not only started taking better care of it, but also started making preparations to film the birth. It was only after they carried out a series of tests that they figured out that the panda was not expecting.

Now that its little lie is out in the open, the panda is no longer being pampered. Hopefully, it has learned its lesson, and will never again try to pull such a stunt.
