Panasonic Updates Several of Its Digital Cameras Firmware Versions

Just now, Panasonic has outed new firmware packages targeted at several of its digital cameras, which include a few fixes that should improve the compatible devices’ overall performance and usability.

Specifically speaking, the producer launched version 1.2 for the DMC-LF1 digital camera, update 1.3 for the DMC-SZ9, -TZ37, -ZS27, -ZS30GK, -ZS30, -TZ41, and -TZ40 devices, as well as firmware 1.4 for the DMC-TS5 and DMC-FT5 units.

When it comes to changes, the DMC-SZ9 camera’s TV connection issue regarding the “Playback on TV” function is now fixed, while the wireless connection problem with Apple iOS devices is resolved for the rest of the aforementioned devices.

As for applying the new release, you must first check the currently installed version to ensure that it is older than the latest one; if it is, get and extract the downloadable archive, copy the firmware (.bin file) onto a formatted SD card, and insert it into the camera (make sure it’s powered off).

Now insert a fully charged battery, power on the camera, and press the “Playback” button. After a few moments, the device should display a dialog that asks for your permission to initiate the upgrade; if you agree, select the “Yes” option, and the unit will immediately start the installation.

Bear in mind that during the update you mustn’t use the camera’s buttons, turn off the device, or remove the memory card; doing so will interrupt the update and cause the unit to malfunction.

When the installation has completed, the camera will automatically shut down; simply remove the SD card, turn the unit back on, and check the current firmware version to ensure it matches the one you have just applied.
