Japanese brand Panasonic has officially announced a new tablet. Actually, it’s a variation of its 4K tablet, which just went on sale a few days ago. The UT-MA6 is an upgrade of the Toughpad 4K UT-MB5 and can be thought of as a performance model, while the UT-MB5 is the base version.

The Panasonic Toughpad 4K UTMA6 is one of the few tablets on the market to boast a 4K standard resolution. The machine has a 20-inch screen with 3840 x 2560 pixel resolution and a 15 x 10 aspect ratio.

Under the hood, Panasonic has slipped an Intel Core i7 vPro processor clocked at 2.1GHz fitted with an NVIDIA Quadro K1000M GPU, 16GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.

Furthermore, the tablet offers three USB 3.0 ports, LAN port, mini display port and SDXC card slot. Those willing to snap picture using this beast of a tablet can do so just as well, because the Toughpad has a 5MP main camera and 0.9MP secondary one, although it’s pretty strange to imagine how users would go about that.

The Panasonic Toughpad 4K UT-MA6 ships with Windows 8.1 out of the box and will work in concert with the Panasonic Electronic Touch Pen that can be used for sketching, annotation or down-right hand writing. The pen has 2048 levels of pressure.

The Toughpad 4K UT-MA6 Performance will become available in April 2014 and will sell for a hefty $7,000 / €5,050 in the US.
