Mobile phone maker Panasonic is getting ready for the release of a new smartphone in the popular Eluga series of devices, and has already posted a series of teasers for it online.

The latest of them emerged on the company’s Twitter page yesterday, suggesting that the smartphone would become official in India in the near future.

No specific details on when that might happen or on what the device will have to offer have been provided as of now, yet an official announcement will be coming soon, and all will be revealed then.

In the meantime, however, we should note that the device has been already spotted on GFXBench, and that some info on what it could be capable of providing users with has emerged via said listing.

As PhoneArena notes, the mobile phone could arrive on the market under the name of Panasonic Eluga U, and the mobile phone maker explains that it has been “designed for the new generation.”

Said GFXBench listing confirms that in a way, as the handset has been spotted in the benchmarking database with a 5-inch touchscreen display capable of delivering a 720 x 1,280 pixels resolution.

At the same time, the listing shows that Panasonic could launch the new device with a quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor inside, which will provide users with pretty decent performance capabilities, that’s for sure. Said CPU should be accompanied by Adreno 305 graphics and 2GB of RAM.

Additionally, the new mobile phone should feature 16GB/32GB internal memory options, and might also pack a microSD memory card slot for expansion purposes.

On the back, the smartphone appears to include a 13-megapixel camera with autofocus, flash, HDR, and support for full HD video recording, paired with a 2MP front camera for making video calls while on the go (it is capable of 720p video).

The Panasonic Eluga U has emerged on the aforementioned benchmarking website with the Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system loaded on top. However, the mobile phone maker is also expected to pack it with its own set of customizations and exclusive apps.

As mentioned above, Panasonic is currently teasing the handset as coming soon to India, without offering additional details on the matter, and we still have no idea what price tag the device will sport when launched.

However, considering its hardware specs, we’ll certainly see it launched with a cost similar to that of other mid-range phones already available in the country. Stay tuned for more on the matter.
