14 DAY TRIAL // Just now, Panasonic has made available new firmware packages targeted at some of its LUMIX digital cameras, namely version 1.1 suitable for the DMC-SZ8 and DMC-LZ40 devices and build 1.2 compatible with the DMC-TZ55, DMC-TZ56, and DMC-ZS35 units.
As for the changes, the 1.1 update improves the Canadian-French and English menu indication (except for the areas where English is the default language), and fixes the LCD issue that wouldn’t light in rare cases when powered on.
When it comes to the other cameras, since the aforementioned changes were added in the previous Panasonic Firmware 1.1 for ZS35, TZ56, and TZ55 Cameras, the newer 1.2 firmware version only improves the auto-focus performance for these devices.
With this in mind, if you intend to upgrade your camera to the latest software, simply save and extract the appropriate package for your device, and copy the .elf file and the firmware folder onto a formatted SD memory card.
Now, insert the SD card into the LUMIX unit while it’s powered off, push the zoom to wide side while holding the Playback button, and choose “Yes” on the dialog screen that will be displayed afterwards to initiate the upgrade.
Bear in mind that, while the installation is in progress, turning off the camera, removing the SD card or the device’s battery, or even opening the card compartment might result in an update failure which can cause serious device malfunctions.
