Announced back in August last year, the Panasonic Nocticron 42.5mm f/1.2 MFT lens is designed to provide outstanding image quality for Panasonic and Olympus Micro Four Thirds cameras.

If we take into consideration the MFT crop factor, the lens will have an effective focal length of 85mm, making it perfect for portrait shots and low-light artistic photo sessions.

Although nothing is known about the lens specs, Japanese website Digicameinfo has recently published what could be the official specifications of this highly-regarded lens.

The new Panasonic Nocticron 42.5mm f/1.2 lens features an inner focus mechanism and comes equipped with an AF integrated stepping motor. Moreover, the lens also sports POWER OIS image stabilization, allowing you to fully take advantage of its capabilities even at low shutter speeds.

In terms of optical construction, the lens features 14 elements in 11 groups including one ED (extra low-dispersion) element, one UHR (ultra high refractive) lens and two aspherical glass elements that will reduce chromatic aberrations to a minimum.

For the moment, there's no information about its price, but we surely hope it will be somewhere around $1,000 / €730 like the newly announced Fujifilm XF56mm f/1.2 R lens, though it comes with OIS and better AF motor than the latter.
