Panasonic, the famous Japanese electronics manufacturer, has recently unveiled a new mobile phone which will surely appeal to all the fashion-conscious users across Japan. Named Panasonic Mirror II, the new handset is a clamshell coming with a glamorous external case that changes its color depending on the viewing angle. For example, if the handset looks purple when viewed from the front, it will turn yellow-gold when rotated to 45 degrees, offering a cool color variation.

Together with the nice and unique look, the Mirror II also brings a set of quite advanced features. These include: a 3 inch TFT internal display with 240 x 427 pixels and 260K colors, an external hidden display with 96 x 25 pixels, Mobile TV, internal GPS, WCDMA and HSDPA connectivity, Web and email capabilities, Bluetooth, Media player, a 2 Megapixel camera with auto focus and VGA video recording, secondary video-call camera, expandable memory (up to 8GB, via a microSD or microSDHC card) and so on.

The new Panasonic clamshell weighs 118 grams and, when not flipped, it measures 107 x 49 x 15.9 millimeters. Its battery can offer a huge stand-by time - up to 600 hours. The maximum talk-time is not that impressive, being of only 220 minutes, but it's still a decent one. Furthermore, the battery can also last up to 120 minutes in video-call mode or up to 6.75 hours in TV viewing mode.

Panasonic Mirror II will be available in Japan starting August, offered by SoftBank under the name of SoftBank 824P, for a price that was not yet announced. There will be five color versions on sale: Midnight Purple, Deep Pink, Ruby Red, Champagne Gold and Crystal Silver.

Unfortunately, like most of the handsets released in Japan, Panasonic Mirror II will probably never make it to other markets.
