Panasonic has launched two cameras today. One of them is for people in need of small, easy to carry gadgets, and we've already covered it. It is called Lumix DMC-LF1. The other is larger and better equipped for photo and video capture. It bears the name of Lumix GF6.

The Lumix G6 is a mid-range Micro Four Thirds camera designed with a 16-megapixel image sensor, as well as a full-area touch AF system (autofocus).

Still, as mid-range as it is, it is not exactly the easiest item to buy, as its price, while it will be quite a bit less than the $1,500 / €1,500 of the Lumix GH-3 (the flagship), will still be a few good hundred bucks.

But we digress. Besides, even if the product does have a higher price than normal for mid-range cameras, it also has good specifications.

In addition to the sensor we've already mentioned, and the AF, the Lumix G6 has the Venus image engine, a similar sensor to the popular GH2 / GH3 models, support for 1080/60p video, and AVCHD or MP4 recording.

Stereo audio is available as well, and the AF system is supplemented by Touch AF technology, which makes focusing even easier.

Not only that, but the camera has a 1,440K-dot OLED LVF, plus a 3-inch, 1,036K-dot touchscreen with a 180 degree swivel and tilt capability of 270 degrees.

With it, owners will be able to take shots of themselves without getting the centering all wrong.

Needless to say, Wi-Fi is included as well, for PC connections (file copying) and photo sharing via online social networking websites.

As we have said before, there is no pricing information, nothing exact in any case. Sadly, there is no word on when sales will start either. Last week, when rumors arose about this Panasonic camera, we surmised that sales would begin immediately, but apparently that is not the case.

Anyone interested will have to pay attention to retailers and keep checking the stocks.
