Panasonic said that it would exit the smartphone business a long time ago, but the company kept launching handsets in a few countries where its products were popular among customers.

India is one of the countries where Panasonic smartphones are selling pretty well, otherwise it wouldn't justify the new releases coming from the Japanese company.

The newest addition to Panasonic's portfolio of mid-range Android smartphones is the Eluga L, which will soon be available for purchase for Rs 12,990 ($205 / €180) outright, AndroidOS reports.

Panasonic Eluga L will come with 4G connectivity, which is pretty rare for mid-range Android smartphones launched in this country where 4G network coverage is not the best in the world.

Anyway, above all else, the Eluga L is meant to offers a smooth experience at an affordable price. In order to do that, Panasonic did some compromises, which are supposed to keep the balance between features and cost.

KitKat is a downside, but Corning Gorilla Glass is a plus

The fact that the smartphone comes with Android 4.4 KitKat and Fit Home UI on top is not something that a handset make should be proud of, since Lollipop was launched more than six months ago.

On the inside, the Eluga L is equipped with a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD card slot.

The smartphone sports a 5-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution and features Corning Gorilla Glass coating. Panasonic Eluga L is only 6.1mm thin, which makes it one of the sleekest smartphones in this price range.

Panasonic's mid-range handset packs an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, which features autofocus, LED flash and video recording, while in the front there's a secondary 5-megapixel camera for video calls and selfies.
