Panasonic Launches Cameras with 360 Degree Vision

These panoramic cameras are weatherproof and have remote connectivity

Panasonic is showing just how many ways it has of building photo and audio devices, having launched the i-PRO SmartHD 360° panoramic 3.0 megapixel dome camera series.

As the title suggests, the cameras are very special in that they have a 360 degree field of view.

Obviously, they are actually mergers of several cameras, or rather cameras with several different sensors acting in concert.

Panasonic hopes they will be considered good alternatives to motorized PTZ cameras that don't fit everywhere.

That said, the i-PRO SmartHD 360° can do full 1080p resolution at 30fps (Panasonic’s exclusive Mega Super Dynamic processing) and have multiple transmission modes.

That way, they can monitor wide areas and perform face detection, even allowing remote control via smartphones.

Panasonic has two cameras up for order, at prices of $1,182 / 1,182 Euro (WV-SF438) and $1,364 / 1,364 Euro (WV-SW458). The latter has IP66 weather and vandal resistance.
