Fast forward a few months into the present and the latest firmware version 2.0 has been made available for download globally.

Panasonic GH4 firmware 2.0 is now available

The new software brings about a slew of features, but the most important seems to be the new 4K Photo mode, which is also available with the FZ1000 bridge camera. On top of that, the LX100 Micro Four Thirds camera is also getting it.

For those of you who aren’t acquainted with what 4K Photo is, we’ll tell you it’s a function that allows users to capture a single frame (photograph) at 4K resolution while they are shooting 4K video.

What’s the big deal, you might be wondering? Well, in the eventuality you’re shooting 4K video and you don’t want to stop to take a still, this feature comes very in handy.

Moreover, due to the presence of the Loop Recording functionality, you’ll be able to delete the frames you don’t need, while the camera continues to record. Pretty neat huh?

New shooting modes have been added

Other supported features which are listen in the change log is the ability to shoot at 23.98fps at 4K resolution and 100Mbps bitrate in MP4 format.

The previous frame rates available before the firmware made it into the wild were 30fps, 35fps and 24fps.

Anyway, in the ISO department things have been refined too with sensitivity settings being more accessible, as the maximum value of a range can be set directly from the ISO menu.

On top of that, the flash output can now be set using the exposure compensation menu, so you’ll be able to save a few extra seconds.

Autofocus received an upgrade too and you should be getting better results when using the camera in concert with the Lumix G Vario 14-140mm f/3.5-5.6 ASPH Power OIS lens.

Last but not least, the GH4 now comes with support for USB tethering, so you’ll be able to do remote shooting.

So if you’re an owner of the camera go ahead and grab the new firmware. You can download the Panasonic DMC-GH4 Camera firmware 2.0 right from Softpedia.

But before performing the update, make sure the battery is fully charged so your camera doesn't shut down unexpectedly while installing the new soft.
