Panasonic has confirmed that it will launch new Eluga series smartphones in India on July 30, but the company has not shared any details on the upcoming handsets.

However, previous rumors pointed to at least one mid-range handset that could arrive in India in late July, the Panasonic Eluga U.

The smartphone has just been confirmed by Indian retailer Mahesh Telecom, which will sell the Eluga U beginning tomorrow for Rs 18,590 ($310 / €230) outright.

Those who can’t wait until the Eluga U arrives in stock at the Indian retailers may want to consider acquiring the smartphone via eBay India, where it has been priced at only Rs 17,490 ($290 / €215).

Panasonic Eluga U has been confirmed to sport a 5-inch HD (720p) IPS OGS display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 coating. The smartphone will ship with Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box and it will be powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor.

As expected, the Eluga U will come with dual-SIM support, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal memory and microSD card slot for storage expansion (up to 32GB).

Customers in India may also want to know that the smartphone is equipped with a 13-megapixel camera on the back, which features autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording, as well as a secondary 2-megapixel camera on the front.
