Mobile phone maker Panasonic has decided to make a new member of the Eluga family official in India, in the form of Panasonic Eluga A, which comes to shelves with a price tag of only Rs. 9,490 ($155/€116) attached to it.

The new handset has been announced for this market only a few weeks after another smartphone from the company was released there, namely the Eluga U.

However, unlike that mobile phone, the new device is aimed at the lower mid-level of the market, and both the price tag it features and the hardware specs it comes with confirm that.

The mobile phone has been made official with a 5-inch IPS touchscreen display that can deliver an FWVGA (854 x 480 pixels) resolution, which is pretty decent for a device in its category.

Moreover, the handset has been announced with a 1.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 200 processor with Adreno 302 GPU, which is paired with 1GB of RAM.

Panasonic Eluga A arrives on the market with 4GB of internal memory, as well as with a microSD memory card slot, which allows users to add up to 32GB of additional storage space to it.

On the back, the new mobile phone includes an 8-megapixel camera, with LED flash and Full HD video recording capabilities, complemented by a 1.3MP front-facing camera for making video calls while on the go.

The specs list of this device also includes support for 3G HSPA+ networks, along with the usual WiFi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth connectivity, and a built-in GPS receiver.

Moreover, Panasonic has announced the new Eluga A with dual-SIM capabilities, as well as with 3.5mm audio jack, FM Radio, and a 2000mAh battery, all included in a device that is 9.2mm thick.

The new device runs under the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system and has been revealed in India in two color versions, namely black and white. Moreover, as fonearena notes, it also comes with a free screen guard.

The smartphone has been released with a Kwik Lock feature that enables users to lock it through a double tap on the home screen, as well as with Fit Home UI for single Hand operation, Qualcomm Snapdragon Audio+, Snapdragon Voice+, Snapdragon BatteryGuru, and more.

“Through ELUGA, Panasonic will bring advanced technological innovations to the Indian smartphone users and with ELUGA A, we have successfully integrated into the premium gadget, advanced technology for Audio enhancements, voice clarity, faster charging, longer battery life and local language features, in tune with the needs of the Indian consumer,” Manish Sharma, managing director, Panasonic India, says.
