With a booth that is mainly focused on business users, Panasonic has also brought with it at the CeBIT expo in Hanover, Germany, the fully-ruggedized ToughBook CF-30. Unfortunately, the company hasn't allowed us to play some more with the laptop as we were actually keen on finding out just how much punishment the notebook could handle.

Some of you might have already encountered the award-winning ToughBook CF-30, which is MIL-STD-810F certified for ruggedness and is able to deliver the ultimate in durability. This fully-rugged mobile PC comes with Windows Vista Business, yet users also have the option to downgrade it to Windows XP.

The specification list of the device includes 13.3” optional sunlight-viewable 1,000 nit touchscreen display, as well as the Intel Centrino 2 platform with vPro technology, and a 160GB shock-mounted HDD. Moreover, the Toughbook 30 also comes with mobile broadband connectivity, including draft-n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, as well as optional integrated Gobi 3G global mobile Internet (WWAN).

According to the company, the new ToughBook also features a sealed all-weather design, a full magnesium alloy case with handle, is 3-foot drop approved, mobile broadband-ready for Alltel, AT&T, Sprint and Verizon Wireless networks, and also offers optional built-in GPS, 32GB SSD, SmartCard and fingerprint readers.

In addition, the Panasonic Toughbook mobile computer also includes hardware-assisted security and manageability capabilities meant to leverage its ability to maintain, manage, and protect business PCs. The mobile computer comes with native Intel vPro technology support, IT management consoles from Independent Software Vendors, and also provides proactive security features meant to protect the machine from attacks, while offering users an easy way to maintain security software up-to-date, and also delivering efficiency when it comes to solving any problems that might surface.
