Unlike some of the other major CE manufacturers on the market, Panasonic's not really jumped head-first on the tablet bandwagon, but they did announce a couple of interesting products targeting this segment, such as the brand-new BizTab model.

According to AkihabaraNews, the BizTab (official product ID is JT-H380VT) just went official and Japan, but, unfortunately for most tablet – lovers out there, it's clearly not directed as a mainstream crowd.

In fact, the Japanese company points out that their device, featuring a 6.5-inch display and running the Windows CE operating system, has been specifically tailored in order to meet the needs of enterprise customers.

For this reason, it's built around a Freescale i.MX27L 400MHz 32bit RISC CPU, that should be quite OK for carrying out various business-related tasks, but not advanced multimedia, despite being accompanied by 256MB of (DDR) RAM memory.

Naturally, since we're talking about a full-fledged mobile productivity device, it shouldn't come as a surprise that the BizTab also sports plenty of mobile networking and connectivity options, such as 3G options, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

The device also packs an SDHC memory card slot, plus front and rear-facing cameras, used for taking photos and for video communications as well.

It's also interesting to mention that the BizTab tablet also supports the addition of various external accessories, such as an IC card reader or a 2D bar code scanner.

We'll also have to mention that the new BizTab has been designed to be used in some pretty rough environment conditions, and for this reason, it sports a dust-proof, shockproof and waterproof casing, that will certainly prove its worth especially as far as users spending a lot of their working hours on the go are concerned.

For the time being, Panasonic's not provided any significant pricing data related to their BizTab tablet, and that's probably because it will only be available in Japan, via the company's usual B2B channels.
