Announced back in spring by the Nippon manufacturer, the new Panasonic LUMIX G VARIO 14-140mm f3.5-5.6 ASPH Power OIS lens was put to the test against its predecessor, the Panasonic LUMIX G VARIO HD 14-140mm f4-5.8 ASPH lens, to find out if any improvements have been made on the new version.

DxO Labs tested both lenses using 5 measurement scales: sharpness, transmission, distortion, vignetting and chromatic aberration. Looking at the test results, the new Panasonic 14-140mm f3.5-5.6 ASPH lens has a three-point gain in the overall score, which translates into an improved image quality and uniform sharpness across the entire frame.

As we can see, the new lens is also slightly brighter than its predecessor especially at the shortest focal length, which allows you to take great shots even in low light conditions.

These test results conclude that the new Panasonic LUMIX G VARIO 14-140mm f3.5-5.6 ASPH Power OIS lens outperforms the previous version in terms of image quality, size and weight, all that at a lower price than its predecessor.
