Cross-lingual image search technology

PanImages is probably the best idea when it comes to a cross-lingual image search technology, because it bundles a great project with well-developed features. Let me describe it for you. The cross-lingual image search concept is actually a product that allows you to browse the Internet in almost all the official languages available at this moment. However, PanImages is not a simple as you might think; it actually is a quite advanced technology able to provide more than simple web search results.

Let's suppose you're searching the Internet for the keyword 'flower'. After you type it in the PanImages search box, the technology automatically translates the word in all the available languages and provides you with the translations. The interesting fact is that you're then able to search the Internet by clicking on a certain language or translation, modifying the search query from 'flower' into the word translated by the product. It might sound a little bit fuzzy, but you should give it a try to see what I mean. PanImages is based on two famous web products: Google Image Search and Flickr. After the technology searches the Internet with these two solutions, you'll get a split screen with the results provided by each of them.

"PanImages is a step towards an Internet that is not limited by language barriers. With PanImages, you can find pictures on Web pages that are written in hundreds of languages. Simply type in a word in your own language, and PanImages will find a list of translations into multiple languages at once," the official page of the search technology reads.

"If the query has more than one word sense, PanImages presents separate lists of translations for each sense. You can choose which translations will be sent to Google Image Search and Flickr, and can experiment with the different results you get from different translations."
