Once more, Pamela Anderson is lending her voice to a good cause. PETA’s most famous campaigner has announced that she’ll be running the NYC Marathon next month to raise money for a charity aiding efforts to rebuild Haiti.

The event will take place on November 3, which means the former “Baywatch” star has one month to raise the money she’s hoping to raise: at least $500,000 (€369,767), which will be donated to the J/P Haitian Relief Organization.

On the charity’s official page, Pamela explains her decision to get involved by stating the reasons she loves Haiti for.

She also promises her fans she will be keeping them up to speed with her progress during training, events she’ll be involved in and, of course, ways they can become involved as well, to help the people of this “magical country” get at least some of the magic back.

"Poorest Country in the Western Hemisphere. Just a one-hour flight from Miami. How are we not more involved? Desperate need for things we take for granted – clean water, safe school structures, medical facilities, emergency rooms, reforestation possibilities – conservation, education. Organic products allowed into Free trade market (mangoes, coffee, vanilla, vegetables). The opportunities are endless,” Pamela writes.

“To spend time in Haiti is to fall in love with Haiti. The magic of this country... The people... The humility... Pride. Musicians, athletes and Artists. It has been heartbreaking to witness the poverty among people in what should be a very rich country,” she continues

Anderson also says she’s been actively involved in Haiti relief efforts since the 2010 earthquake. She recalls meeting and working side by side with Sean Penn, perhaps one of the most mediated celebrities for this particular reason.

Anderson concludes her message by saying she hopes her fans will also understand the importance of joining forces for a cause and donate to it.
