14 DAY TRIAL // Tom Cruise’s third marriage, to actress Katie Holmes, ended in 2012 in what is to this day one of the quickest and most discreet celebrity divorces of all times. He’s been single since, despite rumors linking him romantically to a bevy of Hollywood beauties, but if his friends have their way, he might not be single for much longer.
Tom Cruise and Sandra Bullock could actually be a couple further down the road, the National Enquirer claims in its latest print issue (story via CB).
So America’s former number 1 action star / controversial Scientologist could be soon romancing America’s sweetheart, the one actress who seemingly can do no wrong. If Tom’s pals plan this right, and that’s a big if right there.
The chemistry has been there since 2009
As the photo above can confirm, Sandra and Tom actually know each other, having met at the 2009 Golden Globes. In fact, this is what the Enquirer’s report is based on, aside from a few quotes from an unnamed source who claims to be close enough to Tom to know of such personal matters as his tastes in women.
“When they met, Tom and Sandy couldn’t stop beaming at each other,” says the insider. “There was definitely a spark — but neither ever thought their marriages would fizzle out. Now there’s no one special for either of them. It’s a natural love match.”
Indeed, at the time, both were married: Tom was with Katie and Sandra was still with Jesse James, who was to be shamed publicly as a serial cheater and liar in a huge scandal only one year later.
Neither Tom nor Sandra has dated anyone since their respective heartbreaking splits, or if they did, the relationships never lasted long enough for them to go public with them.
Somehow, that’s enough for these so-called friends of Tom’s to assume that Sandra would be perfect for him, and more importantly, that she would agree to go out with him and even hit it off on the spot.
A “match made in heaven”
More from the same insider: Tom wants another relationship because he’s enjoyed the single life for long enough after Katie. He needs this kind of presence in his life, and his friends believe Sandra would be the ideal partner for him.
“The fact is, Tom really wants to be in a relationship again, and the consensus among their mutual pals is that Sandra would be perfect for him,” says the spy. “She’s not a Scientologist, but she’s gorgeous and funny and they both love parenting. There’s no question her son Louis and his little girl Suri would become fast friends.”
The tipster even brands this potential future (!?) romance a match “made in heaven,” arguing that they have “money and well-established careers, so there’d be no jealousy over who’s the bigger star.”
However, if you think of Tom’s involvement with the Church of Scientology and the role the cult played in all his marriages (allegedly), you know that there’s no chance on Xenu for this to work, because Sandra isn’t a Scientologist – and she’d probably never consent to becoming one.
