14 DAY TRIAL // Palo Alto Networks has launched what the company calls the fastest and most powerful next-generation firewall (NGFW) that the industry has seen so far. The new product, the PA-7050, features IPS, AV, full application enablement systems, along with the company’s WildFire dynamic analysis technology.
A lot of data passes through an enterprise’s networks each day. While it’s important that this traffic is not malicious, it’s also important that security solutions don’t negatively impact business productivity.
Palo Alto Networks says that the PA-7050 is designed to protect the entire network without affecting performance.
The solution is easy to manage, but it’s also easy to extend. Customers wanting to expand their networks simply add network processing cards to the appliance’s chassis.
“Big security news stories are a daily event as the threats facing enterprises are getting more pervasive and sophisticated,” said Jeff Wilson, principal analyst for security at Infonetics Research.
“Organizations need to implement protections against advanced application-layer threats throughout their networks -- not just at the edge, but often have to compromise security for performance in the data center,” Wilson added.
The PA-7050 is powered by PAN-OS, Palo Alto Networks’ proprietary operating system, and it can support throughput speeds of up to 120 Gbps.
“The PA-7050 allows security teams to achieve two seemingly conflicting goals. First, it provides state-of-the-art security at the application level and applies scans for attacks, malware, and exploits,” noted Lee Klarich, senior vice president of product management at Palo Alto Networks.
“Second, because it has a unique single-pass architecture designed to optimize performance, the PA-7050 can provide all of this security capability at speeds much greater than alternatives in the market; this ensures business processes run smoothly and securely for our customers.”
