Brazilian-based mobile games developer PalmSoft, announced the launch of a new role-playing game for the mobile platform. The game, called Essence, is a tactical RPG, set in a mystic world of wizards.

The story says that centuries ago, ancient wizards built two portals to channel the universal essence of magic. The first portal was used to concentrate the light essence of magic; while the second portal, contained the essence of the elemental. The portals made wizards more powerful and allowed the creation of new magic.

But a corrupted faction of wizards, yearning for even more power, built in secret a third portal, which channeled the forces of the shadows and destruction. When the third portal was finished, unexpectedly, a magical link was formed among the three of them, allowing horrible beings to invade the world.

Noticing the evil was done, the Wizards Order rallied everyone from the kingdoms to help in the fight against the magical beings and, after many battles, they managed to seal two of the portals. The spell capable of channeling the essence of their magic was transmitted to a little device: the Essence.

But, many years later, the Essence was stolen and the world is in danger, with the three portals threatening to unleash the horde of demons into the world once again. This is where the player comes in.

Essence is a role-playing game (RPG), with turn-based battles, spreading throughout 14 missions. The player can use both brute strength (weapons) as well as magic to achieve its goal. The character advances with each opponent slain, gamers having the possibility of customizing their character the way they like. Character attributes, such as Strength, Intelligence, Vitality, Energy, Regeneration can be improved with each gained level. As they advance through the missions, players encounter various non-playable characters (NPCs) whom they can talk to and who will help (or not) the hero in his quest.

Essence is currently available in Brazil via Claro, BrasilTelecom GSM, Telemig, Teleamaz?nia, Oi and TIM; and in Mexico and Chile via Movistar.
