Palm Treo Pro Starts Selling Through Sprint

Palm and Sprint just announced that Palm Treo Pro would start selling via the carrier’s retail stores starting the 15th of March, 2009. Treo Pro is the first smartphone from Palm to feature the Windows Mobile 6.1 operating system. The device will take advantage of the EV-DO Rev. A speeds of Sprint's Mobile Broadband Network for fast data transfers or Web browsing.

The sleek, yet powerful smartphone is also the first Palm phone to include Internet Explorer Mobile 6, which translates into a mobile-optimized or desktop-like Internet browsing experience on Sprint's 3G network. It also features a 2.5-inch high-resolution color touchscreen (320x320 pixel resolution) and a full QWERTY keyboard. The smartphone is powered up by a rechargeable high-capacity 1500 mAh Li-Ion battery that packs up to 5 hours of talk time and about 250 hours of standby.



For those looking for cheaper Web browsing solutions, Palm added some Wi-Fi hardware to make it easier to get online fast and cheap. The one-touch Wi-Fi button provides a clean, uncluttered Wi-Fi experience that gets Treo Pro users rapidly connected at home, in the office or in Wi-Fi hotspots.

Treo Pro boasts a Qualcomm MSM 7201 400 MHz CPU, but also integrated GPS, enabling Sprint Navigation with turn-by-turn directions, maps and point-of-interest searches for locations such as restaurants or stores. The smartphone also includes rich Sprint-exclusive content, such as: Sprint TV, Sprint Music and Pocket Express. With 100 MB internal memory and 128 MB RAM, but also microSD slot card for memory expansion (up to 8GB), users are assured that they won't run out of storage space. The 2 Megapixel camera on the back of the phone doesn't feature any flash capabilities, but you can capture videos.



Treo Pro will be available through all Sprint retail channels and Sprint retail stores, for $199.99 with a two-year subscriber agreement. It will also be available through the Palm Store and Palm's B2B sales organization starting March 16.
