The hottest Palm ever

Palm Treo 850, one of the upcoming flagship smartphones from the Sunnyvale-based manufacturer, will actually be named Palm Treo Pro. Or, at least, that's what it is written in a presentation of the handset, appeared on Palm's website.

The said presentation is no longer accessible at the moment, but there are some snapshots of it, found via the WM Experts Forums. We already knew that the Treo 850 / Treo Pro has lots of chances to be the best-looking Palm smartphone ever, and the new available images kind of confirm it.

As for the features of Treo 850 / Treo Pro, the ones surely included are as follows: Windows Mobile 6.1, Wi-Fi, a 320 x 320 pixels touchscreen display, a 3.5mm headset jack (good move from Palm), a photo camera of at least 2 Megapixels (auto focus might be included, but there's no sight of a flash LED), microUSB, microSD card slot and, of course, a full QWERTY keypad. Palm Treo Pro's dimensions are said to be of around 4.45 x 2.36 x 0.55 inches (113 x 60 x 14 millimeters).

The new handset is also rumored to pack GPS (like the Treo 850w), Bluetooth 2.0, a 400 MHz processor, 256MB of Flash memory and high-speed connectivity. For the moment, however, it is not clear whether the Treo Pro will be a GSM/HSDPA device or a CDMA/EV-DO one.

Either way, the smartphone will probably be one of the most attractive ones to come out this year. Although there is no word yet on when Palm decides to officially present the Treo Pro, it shouldn't be long until we get to see the handset on the market.

If all the above-mentioned features are indeed packed into the new Treo and if Palm prices it reasonably, then the success of the Centro smartphone (sold in more than 2 million units until now) might be reiterated.
