Treo 800w, the new Windows Mobile 6.1 smartphone produced by Palm, is now officially available in the US, exclusively via Sprint. After the reports from last week, which were saying the handset can be bought from a few Sprint stores, Palm Treo 800w can now be acquired online, from Sprint's official website, as well as from most of the carrier's stores across the US.

[admark=1]The retail price of Palm Treo 800w is of $599, but the smartphone can be bought for as little as $249 by those who sign a contract agreement for two years and choose a data plan of at least $25 per month.

Presented as "built for business", the 800w does indeed pack lots of features that make it a good choice for business users. First of all, the new Treo brings all the useful applications included in Windows Mobile 6.1: Microsoft Office Mobile, Microsoft Outlook Mobile (Direct Push Technology supported), Internet Explorer Mobile, Windows Media Player, PC-sync capabilities and so on.

Furthermore, Palm Treo 800w comes with built-in GPS, Wi-Fi, EV-DO Rev A connectivity, a 320 x 320 pixel TFT touchscreen display, a full QWERTY keyboard, Sprint TV, stereo Bluetooth, a 2.0 Megapixel camera with video recording, phone as modem, TTY compatibility, 128MB of program memory, 256MB user memory and microSD card support for up to 8GB.

Palm Treo 800w measures 4.4 x 2.3 x 0.7 inches (112 x 58 x 17.8 millimeters) and weighs 5.0 ounces (141 grams).

While for the moment the new Treo is sold only by Sprint, the smartphone will probably be offered by Verizon too, sometime in the future. Moreover, as in the case of Palm Centro, the Treo 800w might also have a GSM version for AT&T as well as for Europe and other markets that don't use CDMA networks.
