All thanks to Fujitsu

It can't read your future, but it will scan your palm and trace your veins. This will work as a security pattern - the mouse will do the scan every time a hand touches it and if it does not recognize the pattern, it won't grant you access to the computer! This has just been announced today by Fujitsu Limited and Fujitsu Frontech Limited and this is the world's first PC mouse with a "palm vein biometric authentication system".

This is one great security measure! I don't think it can be tricked - every person has a unique vein pattern that is impossible to recreate. Apart from that, the blood needs to be flowing in order for the scan to work, so cleaved limbs won't do either. If you could somehow trick a fingerprint scanner (I guess you've all seen THAT Myth Busters episode) there is no way to bypass this one.

This is a sophisticated technology, but it's not hard to use, all you need to do is install its special software and then just attach the device. After that, you don't need any passwords or stuff like that, all you have to do is simply hold your palm over the sensor to log in. And this works just great, as it tolerates more that one palm position, angle and distance. Doesn't seem too complicated to me... Also, it is not the first time it's being used, as Fujitsu has developed this system in 2004. It works really well, but now's the first time they implemented it in a mouse. These mice come in black, white and gray as well, just in case color mattered to you.

This product is intended for situations where security is critical, namely high-profile business corporations, secret research institutes and other similar clients, so you probably won't bump into it anytime soon, if you're a common desktop user.
