Internal Palm memo shows June 5

More rumors on the launch of the highly anticipated Palm Pre made it into the wild, this time pointing towards June 5 as the possible release date. Previously, the high-end phone was rumored to come with Sprint as soon as June 7, and the new supposed launch is placed around the same date, so something might happen in that time frame after all.

It seems that the new June 5 date has leaked on an internal Palm memo that surfaced on BGR, along with some meetings that will take place in early June, just before the launch date. Considering the fact that Palm kept silent about the launch date of Pre, it would be safe to assume that the release will follow close after those meetings.

Hopefully, it won't be too long before Palm and Sprint finally deliver the Pre to users, both due to the anxiety the handset's launch has created among some of them, as well as due to the fact that the companies need it to become quite successful. And perhaps the Pre won't be launched into the wild on June 7 after all, as it’s only one day before WWDC 2009, but a few days earlier, just to give it a head start.

On the other hand, Sprint is known to usually launch new devices on Sundays, which means that the June 7 date fits better, but we might see the carrier breaking this tradition this time and launching the Pre on Friday, June 5, which might also boost sales for that weekend. One way or another, we're waiting to see if anything will happen in that time frame after all.

For what it's worth, the fact that Sprint and Palm haven't unveiled any details on the Pre's launch has made room for a lot of rumors, starting with a March 15 launch and going all the way to the current June 5. To add a little bit of humor to the facts, you should check on the video bellow to see how not knowing the release date could “drive” people towards taking “extreme actions.”
