The newly unveiled Palm Pre is one of the most expected devices that will come to the United States market this year, yet it is still uncertain when that will happen. As many of you might already know, the handset will come to the Sprint's network exclusively, and it is expected to become available sometime in the first half of the year, at least this is what both Sprint and Palm are reported to have said.

At the same time, the two do not plan to hurry the launch of the device. According to Sprint CEO Dan Hesse, the handset will be launched when there will be enough Pres on the US market to meet demand. He says that the handset will be in high demand, which will lead to shortage no matter when it is launched.

“But we don't want it to be too early where there's only a handful of Pres in the whole country. We want to make sure that we can also have production ramped up at a reasonable level before we launch the product,” Dan Hesse stated.

At the same time, Sprint's CEO also stated that the device will not be launched until it is ready. That would mean that the two plan to release it only when they are sure that the Pre works the way it should. Both Palm and Sprint are currently working hard on ensuring that everything goes according to plan. “We're not going to bring it out until we're really confident that the launch is going to be really successful in terms of how it operates.”

Palm Pre is expected to come to the market featuring the phone maker's newly announced webOS platform, which is a multi-tasking operating system highly focused on Web capabilities. The device will also include a sliding keyboard and a multi-touch-capable 3.1-inch display. In addition, there will be a 3.0-megapixel camera with LED flash, Wi-Fi b/g, Bluetooth 2.1 and 8GB of on-board storage.
