Sunnyvale-based mobile phone maker Palm has just put in place a special offering for the users of its webOS-based Palm Pre and Palm Pixi devices (both the original and Plus flavors). The promotion affects the software solutions available for purchase and download over in the App Catalog, as most of them are now available at only half of their original price tag.

“If you’ve been looking for a good excuse to check out some new apps for your Palm webOS phone, here it is: Starting today (and for a limited time), nearly every app in the US Palm App Catalog and Palm web channel are available at half price. (A handful of exceptions are indicated at full price in their catalog listing),” a recent post on the Palm Blog reads.

The promotion kicked off on June 18, Palm announced, and should last until July 9. It seems that not all applications included in the software portal are now available with the discounted price, but most of them are and, knowing that webOS users are application-hungry, the promotion should make a lot of them happy.

“These are the standard full-featured apps -- how about Need for Speed Undercover, Jump O'Clock, and James Cameron's Avatar to get your weekend going? -- and entitle you to the same upgrades as always. The only difference is that between now and July 9, you’ll keep half the usual price in your pocket. So go ahead and treat yourself a few new goodies. Because for the next couple of weeks, if you have to have it, it’s only half to have it,” the said blog post continues.

This is not the first time when Palm comes up with similar special offers for its users. However, what most of them are waiting for at the moment is a software update, which was said not too long ago to be ready to land as webOS 1.4.5. Even if the company was recently acquired by HP, it seems that it is still committed to the experience it offers to its users.
