Sunnyvale-based mobile phone maker Palm has just announced the winners of the Hot Apps competition, one of its most popular developer contests it put in place. According to the company, the program as a whole was pretty exciting, and two leading apps rose from the crowd, including the YouView Visual Voicemail Client by Syntactix, which won the Paid Apps category, and Pandora Radio by Pandora, which was considered the hottest free software solution available for Palm's webOS platform.

According to a recent post on Palm's Developer Center Blog, these were the two winners in the $100,000 category. “It’s the moment you’ve all been waiting for! Today, Palm announces the winners of the Hot Apps competition. It’s been great watching as our developer community rose to the challenge, producing great apps for webOS. We hope you enjoyed the competition too, and that it helped you get more exposure for your apps,” the company's Fred Patton stated in the said post.

“Congratulations to Pandora and Syntactix for creating truly compelling apps! If you haven't given them a try, now's the time,” another post on Palm's Developer website notes. “Next, we have the winners of the $10,000 awards—the next top 20 apps in the free and paid categories.

The competition was really intense. Well done!” the company states, continuing with the $1,000 awards in the free and paid categories. All the necessary details on the winners and on the respective applications can be seen here.

However, while this contest is over, other competitions are undergoing at the mobile phone maker. The company announced not too long ago the launch of a new Hot Apps competition, this time around aimed only at PDK software solutions. That program is going on as we speak, and Palm offers all the necessary details on it, as well as the needed development solutions, here. The Palm webOS PDK is available for download from Softpedia too, via this link.
