Palit Microsystems looks as a serious motherboard manufacturer as it expands its board offerings with a product designed for AMD compatible processors: the Palit N61S mainboard. This new mainboard is another example of good engineering from a relatively unknown company which combines high quality products with incredible economical value.

The new Palit mainboard, the N61S, supports both existing
AM2 processors as well the next generation of AMD consumer desktop intended CPUs based on the AM2+ socket. All the AM2 based central processing units are supported like the AMD Athlon 64, Athlon FX 64, Athlon 64 X2 and Sempron and it also supports HyperTransport frequencies up to 1GHz. Based on a Nvidia chipset, the N61S also integrates a complete graphics solution built around the GeForce 6100 graphics processing unit which offers full hardware support for DirectX 9 as well as an integrated sound solution with a 7.1 channel HD setup based on the Realtek 883 chip.

Because of this multimedia capabilities users opting to this AMD compatible motherboard can enjoy the full Windows Vista experience without the need of a discrete graphics solution, but as the N6S1 comes with one PCI Express x16 expansion slot running in 8x mode, users demanding more graphics performance will be able to upgrade their computer system with an additional graphics card. The new Palit mainboard comes with two DDR2 memory slots and it supports up to 2Gb of 240 pin memory modules running at a standard frequency of 800Mhz. An integrated network card is also present and the Realtek 8201 10/ 100 fast Ethernet PHY chip allows users to connect to the Internet and use high speed connections with ease. Apart from the PCI Express x16 expansion slot, the N61S also features one PCI Express 1x and two legacy PCI slots for older but still widely used and popular add-on cards. The Palit N61S motherboard also comes in a micro ATX, mATX for short, form factor which allows users to build a smaller computer system perfect for office and home use where the space footprint is important.
