Just when we thought that dual-slot graphics cards were worthy to be considered the real "graphics monsters," Palit, one of ATI's largest graphics card partners, is planning to release THE real gaming monster, in the form of a tri-slot Radeon HD 4870 X2, dubbed the Revolution 700 Deluxe. Once you lay your eyes on this thing, your own HD 4870 X2 or GTX 280 graphics cards are likely to pale in terms of design, and most probably in terms of performance as well, as this card is not only large, but also factory overclocked.

 

You could think that, given the worldwide low economy, people might consider upgrading to a more decently priced, mainstream graphics card but, then again, technology and gaming enthusiasts are probably not all that affected by a market evolution such as this. That's probably why Palit went ahead and designed this Revolution 700 Deluxe, an RV700-equipped graphics card that needs a triple slot, dual-fan cooling solution, big enough to probably make a user reconsider the possibility of a CrossFire setup.

 

As regards specifications, this genuine graphics monster comes with factory overclocked settings to deliver a maximum performance. This implies a 750MHz for the core speed and 3800MHz for the 2GB of GDDR5 memory. We should also not forget the 1600 Stream processors and the 2.4 teraFLOPS of horsepower, all built-in inside an AMD-enabled card that could determine most computer enthusiasts out there to make products coming from the competition fade into oblivion. In addition, the innovative dual fan cooling system on the new Revolution 700 Deluxe uses two PWM fans and four heatpipes to deliver an optimum cooling effect on the card's two graphics processors.

 

That's probably more than enough for any gaming or high-end user out there, but Palit decided to take things with the card's features even a step further, and equipped it with no less than four display outputs, including the classical dual-link DVI, and D-Sub, as well as the more recent HDMI and DisplayPort.

 

Unfortunately, there's no specific word on pricing just yet, but we expect this card to cost considerably above the price tag of a reference GeForce GTX 280, which currently is NVIDIA's only weapon against AMD's flagship model.
