Pakistani national Imran Elahi has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for his role in a couple of massive ATM heists that targeted debit card processors.

According to Reuters, Elahi pleaded guilty to access device fraud and conspiracy last year. The man admitted to taking part in a $9-million (€6.9-million) heist against RBS WorldPay in 2009.

He also admitted to participating in a $14-million (€10.7 million) heist against Fidelity Information Services in 2011.

His role was to disseminate the debit card number to individuals who were responsible for cashing out the criminal proceeds.

Investigators said these two incidents were similar to another massive heist for which 8 individuals were charged in May, 2013.

Elahi has helped investigators, so he might be released soon and sent back to Pakistan.
