Painkiller Hell & Damnation, a remake and a sequel for the immensely popular Painkiller made by People Can Fly in 2004, is now available for Linux.

The developer of the new Painkiller Hell & Damnation title, The Farm 51, has just released the game on the Linux platform, but the title is still in Beta.

There are still a few things that need to be followed in order to get the game running. First of all, open source GPU drivers (Gallium rx00, radeonsi, Intel) may not work because they lack the support for the necessary OpenGL extensions. Users will have to use proprietary drivers for the best experience.

The loading times are rather slow because of shader compilations. The developers from Nordic Games said there was not much they could do because this is how the Unreal 3 engine works.

A few other minor issues have been pointed out in the announcement, but the game should work on Steam for Linux without any major problems.
