European users of a Palm device that runs under the company's webOS platform have now a reason to rejoice, as the Sunnyvale-based handset vendor announced recently via the Palm Developer Network Blog that it would introduce paid apps into the European App Catalog as soon as March 2010 arrives. Palm Pre users in the UK, Ireland, Spain and Germany will be those to benefit from the upcoming feature, which will expand the number of available solutions for them via the storefront.

“Following the launch of the e-commerce program in the U.S., we are excited to announce that the European e-commerce program is planned to go live in March 2010. The e-commerce program has been tremendously successful in the U.S., with about 600 new paid apps available in just 2 months, and the extension to Europe gives developers a compelling new opportunity to distribute and monetize their apps. In Europe, Palm Pre is currently available in the UK, Ireland, Spain and Germany, providing excellent opportunities for developers to do business in multiple large markets,” the blog post notes.

According to the company, developers also have a great deal of benefits from the Palm App Catalog, as it opens new ways for them to promote their solutions. Most of you might be already familiar with the Palm developer program, through which the company says that developers can benefit from a great freedom when it comes to the manner in which their applications can arrive on the market, while also providing them with control over promoting their business.

“For developers looking to make money, it’s all about speed, promotion, and reacting to customer feedback. Our platform gives you greater access to customers and faster cycle times to make higher-quality, compelling applications. If you have an app you’d like to submit for consideration for the European e-commerce program, please send an email to [email protected] stating your interest and giving details about your company and your application,” Palm also notes. Developers interested in having their solutions included in the App Catalog for Europe should head here for all the necessary details.
