Given the enormous success recorded by Apple's iPad tablet all over the world, it should come as no surprise that we're seeing literally tons of accessories designed specifically for it arrive in stores, the latest we've come across, namely the PadPower from Japanese company SolidMicro, combining two functions into a single product, namely extra-power and protection.

Yeah, as you might have guessed already, the PadPower is, in fact, a protective case for the Apple iPad that sports a little extra on the side, namely a built-in battery, meant to enhanced the functioning life of Apple's Internet tablet.

Now, we'll have to admit that a “little” extra doesn't really do this thing justice, since the extra battery is, in fact, a pretty powerful one, the 6000mAh power pack increasing the estimated life a whopping 2.4 times.

Much in the same way as other products of this type available out there, the case sports a LED battery meter attached to the rear of the unit, so that users will have at least a general idea of just how much juice they've got left all times.

Also notable is the fact that the extra case won't affect the overall functionality of the Apple tablet, whether we're talking about charing or synching.

Beside the extra battery function, the PadPower case will, quite obviously, protect the iPad stored inside against scratches and a variety of bumps, although we don't recommend going too extreme with this thing.

The only problem with this thing, at least as far as we're concerned, is the fact that it will certainly add some bulk to the iPad, since it measures 261x196x24.5mm and weighs around 385 grams.

Unfortunately, we haven't been able to come across any pricing details, and the same goes for whether this thing will ever make it out of Japan or not.
