Just as the Pacific Rim movie hits theaters, a mobile game with the same name arrives on Android, bringing some of the movie’s action to the smaller screens of smartphones and tablets running under Google’s mobile operating system.

The same as in the movie, the game features the Jaeger weaponized robots that are being used to fight extraterrestrial monsters called Kaiju, which are trying to take over the world.

Players will have to fight the creatures using said robots, so as to save the earth from their invasion and to protect the humankind.

“Pacific Rim is an all-new action fighting game inspired by the Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures film from acclaimed filmmaker Guillermo del Toro,” the game’s description reads.

“Piloting weaponized robots known as Jaegers, Earth’s defenders must train their jockeys from rookie to ace in a Story Mode or challenge themselves to last as long as they can against waves of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, in Survival Mode.”

There are two different gameplay modes that users will enjoy, one being the Story Mode, which includes over 30 levels and enables users to challenge the monstrous creatures in intense combat inspired by the motion picture.

The second one, Survival Mode, puts players in the position to defend humanity from an endless wave of Kaiju while piloting their customized Jaeger on their Android devices.

Other features of the mobile game include:

- Command up to five different Jaegers with custom equipment and technology. - Upgrade your Jaegers and weapons to dominate the battlefield. - Discover and research new technology to increase your armor, power and speed. - The game explores the Pacific Rim universe with new events, Jaegars, and Kaiju not fully revealed in the film.

The new Pacific Rim mobile game was released on Android devices with a price tag of $4.99 (€3.82) attached to it, and can be found on Softpedia as well, via this link.
