Pacific Rim A.I. Voice Is Portal’s GlaDOS, Says Guillermo del Toro

Guillermo del Toro confirms that the voice that fans hear in the new Pacific Rim trailer is indeed that of well-known video game villain GlaDOS, from the Portal series.

The movie director and producer says that, “I wanted very much to have her, because I’m a big Portal fan. But just as a wink. She’s not cake-obsessed. She’s not out to destroy humanity.”

He adds, “The filter we’re using is slightly less GLaDOS. Slightly. The one in the trailer I wanted to be full-on GlaDOS.”

A deal was worked out between Guillermo del Toro and Valve in order to make the Pacific Rim appearance possible.

The movie creator has previously expressed his love of Valve as a developer and his desire to work with them.

Pacific Rim will be launched in July of this year.
