The gaming industry really started with arcade games, like Frogger or Mario, but one of the most iconic series of titles developed for the big old arcade cabinets was Pac Man. The circular-shaped character that ran through a series of mazes in order to eat up all of the points and to run away at the same time from ghosts has become a household name.

In order to benefit from the popularity of Pac Man, Namco decided to launch Pac-Pix, a video game featuring the legendary character for the Nintendo DS. The game arrived for the DS on March 10 in Japan, on April 26 in North America and, last but not least, on May 20 in Europe, all in 2005.

Pac-Pix is a video game that makes extensive use of the DS' touch screen system, and makes the players draw Pac-Man and guide him through each level by drawing walls and doing what he does best, eating ghosts. Also, you can overcome obstacles like walls or shields by drawing bombs and arrows accordingly. Players can change the speed of the Pac-Man they create by setting the size of the drawing when it is being made.

Sadly, Pac-Pix doesn't feature a very precise detection system - if the objects are not drawn clearly enough or in the right order, the player needs to start over the whole level. Also, the lack of checkpoints and the timer present all the time ruin the whole arcade experience of the game. Here are a couple of things that you can uncover while playing the game:

Hidden Gestures

Snake: In Sketch Book Mode, you can draw a snake by writing the letters "mw" as one continuous line.

Fire Arrows at Pac-Man: Unlock the Arrow gesture by completing chapter four, and then enter Sketch Book Mode. You can then draw arrows to fire them at Pac-Man.

Here's a video of the game:
